Biography:

Sarah was born on August 22nd, 1989 to George and Laurie Porter of Hockinson, Washington. She has three siblings; an older sister named Georgia and a younger brother and sister who are twins. She attended Hockinson High School where she and her sister Shannon discovered a love and talent for long distance running. In 2005, Sarah and Shannon placed 1st and 2nd respectively at the Washington class 2A State Cross Country Championship. . While at Western Washington University, Sarah rewrote the record books claiming new marks in the indoor 1,500, mile, DMR, 3,000 and 5,000 and in the outdoor 1,500, 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000. She was also the Division Two National Cross Country runner-up in 2009 and 2010 and was the NCAA D II Champion in the 10,000 in 2011, breaking a 24 year old national meet record in the process. Two weeks later, at the USA Outdoor Championship meet, Sarah broke the Division Two all-time record with a clocking of 32:57; a time that was also fast enough to give her the number one collegiate ranking for women in any NCAA division in 2011. In the fall of 2011, Sarah moved to Blowing Rock, North Carolina to join Professional Running Group ZAP Fitness  with her husband Michael (Michael Crouch is also a professional runner and was a 3-time Division II National Champion in the 1,500, indoor 5k and Cross Country). In 2018 Sarah and Michael moved to Flagstaff Arizona where she set her personal best of 1:11 in the half marathon and 2:32 in the 2018 Chicago Marathon where she was the top American finisher.
